Areas of Emphasis

The Department of Sociology offers four areas of emphasis or specialization for undergraduate majors.  Although all students will be required to take core sociology courses, each emphasis allows students to delve deeper into key issues that may interest them.  To see specific requirements, click on one of the specializations below:

Note: The Sociology Department is moving towards a more flexible curriculum structure in the near future that will no longer include these four emphasis areas. Courses will be retained, but the new structure will allow students more options for shaping their individual programs of study, in consultation with a sociology advisor. The current four areas of emphasis will be included through the Undergraduate Catalog 2006-2007.
