Scholarly Interests: Dr. Crawford’s research focuses on the sociology of health and illness; science, technology and medicine studies; and the sociology of the body or body studies, specifically the modernization of amputation; historical and contemporary constructions of phantom limb syndrome; prosthetic technologies; the sociology of pain; contemporary theories of embodiment; qualitative research methods; gender/women’s studies; and critical race studies.
